The Salvation of Vengeance Wanted Men Nancy Haviland Books
I absolutely loved the first book. Hated for it to end. This book I couldn't wait for it to be over. This couple got some page time in the last book and seemed HOT together. It didn't pan out in their own book. The first 20% of the book was boring to me. There was a lot of inner dialogue. That got better though. The main problem to me was I didn't care for the hero. He obviously wanted to catch the bad guy so that Nika, the heroine would be safe but that was the only thing I liked about him. He fought being with her all the way to about 97% of the book. Literally the book was ending before he finally gave in and admitted he loved and wanted to be with her. It was the last chapter!!!!
They didn't have sex for the first time until 70% into the book. Before then he was kind of a butt to her. He knew she had been abused, yet he said hurtful things to her. Because he is an ___. By the time they had sex I just didn't care.
I felt more love during the bathroom scene between Eva and her husband than I did between the new H & h though out the whole book combined. I kind of just wanted her to find another man. The heroine wasn't a doormat, but I felt like she just excepted what ever crum the hero gave her and the hero's mean or standoffish behavior was forgotten.
I don't even think they spent that much time together.
They never even tell her that the bad guy was killing girls who looked like her. Another thing I don't get is, they all knew something was going on (from book one). She had all the signs of an abused women yet they did not one thing to help her. It took someone seeing her back before they acted. They are supposed to be bad ____. They are supposed to have all these resources yet didn't use any of it to spy on them, or research the guy. Nothing but ask her if she's ok.
So anyway. . . I loved the first book, didn't care for the second one, but will still read the next in the series. It looked like some things were being set up. Hopefully it will be more like the first book. I have mixed feeling about it being the nite club owner and the guy that his name starts with a M. The guy sounds like a 19 year old horndog. I like my hero's sexy. Not immature acting and can only think about getting laid.

The Salvation of Vengeance Wanted Men Nancy Haviland Books Reviews
the writing is so juvenile....it's like the author is trying to be hip and cool, writing for millennial harlequin romance readers. her propensity not to finish words - the "sitch" was out of control...you mean situation? .... it was so "ridic" ....it was "s'okay". are these men grown or 12? the conversations between all the "bro's".....a bad case of poorly written dialogue from an author who tries to, and fails miserably, to write what she thinks is a male pov. it's like reading conversations between 20 year old jocks trying to be tough. ugh.
the heroine is a vapid beige...just like the beige everything in her house that was described in the first chapter. these ultra smart, ultra tough mobsters and mc guys can't seem to figure out anything that is right in front of their face, and are constantly bested by the evil husband that is written like he's continuously one step from going completely coocoo for coco puffs. we're not talking evil genius here, we're talking one shy from the looney bin. but somehow, he's able to outwit and even out fight all of them.
the first book was okay. not stellar, but okay. there seemed to be potential in the writing, and potential in future plot lines. this book throws that all out the window. terribly written, a heroine too stupid to live, constant pov's and story lines injected from other characters....
don't waste your time or money.
Spoilers ahead....
This book had me frustrated throughout, and not in a good way. There is only so much of the "hero" not thinking he's good enough for the heroine I can take. They did not get together until over 70% into the book. At that point I was starting to believe him and didn't think he was good enough! The heroine was abused, (unbelievable so, the beatings she took to the face and still be attractive is far-fetched to say the least) by her first husband physically and emotionally. To the extreme. Broken bones, etc. Then the Hero keeps pushing her away, at one point tells her he is not attracted to her. Talk about abusing the victim all over. I did not like his treatment of the heroine. It was too little to late
On top of that, the plot was unbelievable. These big bad mafia and MC guys could not keep one girl safe? They know she'll run to protect her brother and they leave her alone. They keep making these stupid amateurish mistakes. All this high tech security and they can't keep her safe in the house. One guy (the villain) manages to overcome several of these MC and Mafia guys over and over again. Made no sense. And made them seem like bumbling idiots imo.
This whole book just turned me off. Which is a shame because I did like the first book in this series, however if the glimpse of the third book I read in this book is an indication of how that's going to play out, I'll skip.
