Skating Over Thin Ice Jean Mills Books
Jean Mills has written a beautifully written novel about three young adults coming of age and discovering what makes them happy. The central character is a young piano prodigy, Imogen, who has been cocooned by her loving and talented father and grandfather. As she emerges from that cocoon, she discovers what makes her happy and what doesn't. Supporting Imogen are her gay best friend, a Swedish diplomat's son, and a prodigiously talented young hockey player. The relationship these three build feels genuine. I found myself fully engaged with each of them and pulling for them to find themselves.

a lovely story about a wildly talented girl navigating external expectation about what she should do with her music who discovers what makes her happy, and gives herself permission to follow that path.
